The Duchess of Cambridge has recorded her first video message to mark the start of Children's Hospice Week speaking about the "inspirational" work of children's hospices. The Duchess became involved in the project through her role as patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices, and the video includes images of Catherine's visit to EACH's Treehouse in Ipswich where she made her first speech as a member of the Royal Family last year.
The message was recorded at royal home Clarence House and the Duchess is seen sitting next to a table with two photographs on it; one from the royal wedding and one showing the Queen Mother meeting soldiers.
In the video Catherine speaks eloquently about her own experience of seeing the organisation's work and the importance of Children's Hospice Week:
'I have been fortunate to see first hand the remarkable work that they do for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. It is simply transformational. Children's Hospice Week is a time to recognise, celebrate and support the inspirational work of these hospices, and those who provide palliative care to these children and families. Children's hospices provide lifelines to families at a time of unimaginable pain. The support they give is vital.
In order to carry out this wonderful work, our help is needed. With our support, those providing children's palliative care can continue to offer these extraordinary service. It does not bear thinking about what these families would do without this. With your support, we can help ensure that these children and their families can make the most of the precious time they have together.'
Children's Hospice Week is run by the charity Together For Short Lives to raise money for Britain's forty-nine hospices. A series of fundraising events have been planned to raise much needed funds and awareness for the often neglected health care sector. It is obvious Catherine is passionate about her role as EACH patron and keen to support hospices across Britain. The video message will not only be watched in Britain but across the world because of her participation and will no doubt highlight the importance of hospices to a wider audience. In support of Children's Hospice Week the Duchess will visit Naomi House on Monday.
The video can be viewed here.
The Duchess elected to rewear the Topshop Contrast Collar Dress, the same piece she wore to the Child Bereavement UK last month. It is a black shift styled dress with a white Peter Pan collar. I would imagine Catherine wore the recently seen and inexpensive piece to detract attention from her sartorial choices ensuring the focus remained on Children's Hospice Week.

William and Catherine were spotted enjoying dinner Friday night in London much to fellow diners delight.
Yesterday, Catherine and Pippa were seen getting their hair done in London (most likely at Richard Ward's Chelsea Salon) and a tweeter snapped a photo of William and Catherine in their car leaving Kensington Palace today.
